1:00 PM - 3:00 PM    Camp Kate Outdoor Adventure Break - Camp Kate Outdoor Adventure Break
A nature-based play and adventure break to help combat the adverse effects of increased screen time and less outdoor time at home. Participants will engage in minimally guided forest play, informal teaching moments (i.e. plant/animal id based on what the children are finding, catches their attention), children’s yoga and journaling. Class will take place fully outdoors regardless of weather (with the exception of lightening or severe weather). Participants will need to dress weather appropriate. The entire program time will take place outdoors and the more comfortable a child is, the more successful that the experience will be. Please don't feel like you need to buy special gear, if you do not have something on the list just email Kateydruan@gmail.com and we can get you set up with whatever you are missing.  Participants will need to come dressed in the following layers: Long sleeve/long pant baselayer (long johns or leggings)  Comfortable and warm top and bottom (fleece pants/pullovers, wool, sweatpants- cotton is fine as we are only out for a few hours but non-cotton material is ideal for longer or wetter outdoor times)  Outer layer  - jacket appropriate for forecasted temperature. If it is a windy day or the ground is wet but the temperature is comfortable, rain pants are appropriate. If the temperature is cold, snowpants may be the best bet, even if there is no snow on the ground.  Hats, mittens and neck gators (can double as masks) are required. Thin knit mittens/gloves are not appropriate unless it is a unseasonably warm day. Please avoid dangling scarves as these can tangle and become hazardous.  Footwear- Generally Maine's November weather will require snowboots and warm socks for a few hours adventuring. Sneakers are fine if it is unseasonably warm.  A bag/backpack that will be left at our "homebase" under the pavilion including: a full waterbottle, a extra pair of warm socks, a extra mask and extra mittens or gloves if it is a wet day.   Please be sure everything you bring is labeled and make a bathroom stop before checking in, as we will be spending the bulk of our time in the woods and on the trails.  COVID-19 Guidelines: Temperatures will be checked upon arrival and masks will be worn by participants when we are not 6 feet apart.
